 "traces the Woodlands Division story of Chesapeake Corporation founded in West Point, Virginia, in 1918. . . . the book uses personal stories to take a close look at the troubles that employees and others encounter after a sale of a mill or company division."

Interesting . . .

Apparently since the Virginia Historical Society "often receive records for a company after it has entered bankruptcy or been sold to another company," the records of the now defunct Chesapeake Corporation are in its hands.

"The Chesapeake Corporation Records are being processed through a generous grant from the Chesapeake Foundation and are included in the NHPRC project to process business collections currently underway at the Virginia Historical Society."

Plant Going Up

INDUSTRIAL BITS ALL OVER VIRGINIA

Work on the new plant of the Chesapeake Pulp and Paper Company, to be built at West Point, is progressing rapidly. The location on the Pamunkey River has been completely surveyed, to facilitate the drawing of plans and specifications. The plans themselves are well under way. and bids for construction will he let in the next ten days or two weeks.
